Characteristics: SkinMed® HydroGel HY is a veterinary preparation in the form of gel with hyaluronic acid, which supports healing of damaged skin and mucous membranes. The gel hydrates the wound, reduces microbial load, prevents secondary infection and creates humid environment, helping the body to develop its own healing process. It helps stop bleeding, soothes injuries, reduces pain and swelling. Hyaluronic acid speeds up the healing process, prevents collagen deposition and thus eliminates scarring.
The gel consistency is optimal for application in all positions (it does not run down) and it adheres to the wound site perfectly. The application is painless, the gel does not burn or irritate. The gel is also safe when licked or swallowed.
The product can be used for all target animal species except fish and amphibians.
Application: For topical application to non-healing wounds (sores, cracks, fissures, fistula) and burns, disintegrated surgical wounds, postoperative and post traumatic wounds. The treatment has antimicrobial and regenerative effect. It is mainly used for wounds in the granulation and epithelization stages of healing.
Ingredients: SkinMed® Super solution (94.96 %), sodium hyaluronate (1.44 %), hydroxyethylcellulose, preservative, sodium tetraborate
First aid measures:
Skin contact: not irritating, only individuals very sensitive to chlorine may develop mild irritation which will disappear shortly.
Eye contact: not irritating, in case of very sensitive individuals with irritation, flush with running water.
Ingestion: No measures are necessary if less than 1dcl has been swallowed. In case of ingestion of large quantities let the animal drink (if possible) a larger amount of water and call a veterinarian.
Instructions for use:
Clean the wound of any physical dirt. Rinse the wound for better effect with SkinMed® Super rinse solution. Then apply the gel directly to the defect so that it copies the wound edges in a sufficient layer. The wound can be covered with non-adherent dressing and the gel is applied once every 1-2 days. In case of healing without covering we recommend application 2-3 times daily. Combination with other preparations is possible, including antibiotic injection, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and other preparations. Do not use in conjunction with topical ATBs (antibiotics) in collagen carriers. The topical effects of ATBs may be reduced.
Handling and storage:
Long-term storage in original containers out of reach of children in a cool and dark place, short-term (when in use) storage in up to 30 °C. A small amount of the product can be disposed of by dilution with water and flushing into the sewer. The preparation is a clear gel. Empty containers after rinsing with water can be disposed of with municipal waste.
Warning:
Do not use if the animal is allergic to any of the contained substances.
Shelf life: 18 months
Store between 5 °C – 30 °C
